Recently, the English monograph "Educational Change Amongst English Language College Teachers in China" by Assistant Professor Li Yulong of the General Education Department of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of our school was published by Springer Publishing Group in Germany.

                                    

The German-based Springer Publishing Group is the world's leading professional book publishing service provider and the world's second largest academic journal publisher. Springer has more than 60 branches, whom publish over 1,900 academic journals and 5,500 professional books annually.

Li Yulong’s monograph is the latest work of the "Academic Essays of the City University of Macau", and it is also a result of CityU’s transformation into a teaching and research university. This monograph is funded by CItyU’s "Scheme for the Promotion of Scientific Research”. Since the funding scheme’s establishment special funds, dozens of academic achievements in Chinese, English, and Portuguese have been published or under the process of publishing by many well-known domestic and overseas publishing institutions. The international visibility and reputation of university scholars in related disciplines have been improved.

Li Yulong’s monograph uses the method of phenomenological ethnography to analyze how teachers who teach English as a Second Language (TESOL) courses in Chinese metropolitan areas gradually transition to academically-oriented English (EAP) courses without systematic training. This study draws on the latest academic English education theories and outlines a systematic and easy-to-understand interpretation of EAP concepts. Young students and teachers will benefit from the case studies provided here, which will provide an example for teacher education reform, and provide advice for their academic careers.

The publication of high-level academic monographs also serves the newly opened language courses of CityU.
