Globally Renowned Publisher Routledge Published Monograph by CityU Scholar

The monograph “City Integration and Tourism Development in the Greater Bay Area, China” by Associate Professor Luo Jianming from the Faculty of International Tourism and Management at the City University of Macau has recently been published by Routledge, an internationally renowned publisher and a brand specializing in humanities and social sciences under Taylor & Francis, a leading global academic publishing group. The monograph is one of the “City University of Macau academic series”.  In these few years, more than 130 Chinese, English and Portuguese academic achievements by CityU covering over 100 categories have been published by renowned Mainland or overseas publishers, raising the international visibility and reputation of local university scholars from related academic areas. Prof Luo discusses the effect of city integration on tourism development and describes the trends of city integration and tourism by introducing the concept of city integration and presenting an overview of the Greater Bay Area. This academic monograph is an important document in that area and is suitable for scholars of related fields and people from the tourism industry.

In addition to producing quality publications, the Faculty of International Tourism and Management at CityU performed well in the Field-Weighted Citation Impact (FWCI), with the FWCI of high-level papers reaching 1.26, which is above the world average. FWCI takes into account factors such as the year of publication, disciplines, types of publication and is an authoritative indicator used by academia to benchmark whether a publication reaches the global average level of similar documents in the same field of research. In addition, the Hospitality & Tourism Management programs offered by CityU was listed on the “2020 ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects” and ranked among the top 20% of higher institutions globally in the Hospitality & Tourism Management category.

The Faculty of International Tourism and Management at CityU keeps pace with the development directions of Macao’s industries with economic competitive advantages and cultivates outstanding talent at different levels for industries in Macao and the Greater Bay Area. Among the programs offered by the Faculty, the Bachelor's Degree Programs in International Hospitality and Tourism Management cover a number of areas related to tourism professions to nurture professionals with one specialization and multiple skills.  Its Master's Degree programs focuse on training senior tourism management talent with skills in scientific analysis and professional management.  The Doctoral Degree programs place emphasis on cultivating high-end professionals with innovative spirit and academic foresight.  All these programs offered by the Faculty have been accredited TedQual quality tourism education by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

Associate Professor Luo Jianming, the author of the monograph, is an important member of the interdisciplinary research team that covers 20 areas.  The research team is an important initiative promoted by CityU.  Prof Luo is currently the associate editor of the International Journal of Marketing Studies, the article editor of SAGE Open (SSCI) and an editor and proofreader of several academic journals. He is mainly engaged in research on urbanization and tourism development, corporate social responsibility, consumer behavior and entertainment and cultural tourism.  He has published more than 30 research papers indexed in Web of Science citation index.
